we can see rain coming up in virginia. a lot of this leading edge of precipitation is not hitting the ground just yet. the air is pretty dry. so i think we'll get through a bulk of the morning ok. but if you're going to the game this afternoon, you might run into a couple of rain showers. it's not going to be heavy rain but still some rain showers later today. all this being triggered by a stalled front to the south. we've got warm air riding up over the top of this front and there's some cool air trying to work its way in and those two things combined usually produce some rain showers. that will be the case today. so mostly cloudy skies, the chance for a few rain showers later this morning and this afternoon. the high temperatures between 71 and 76. if you're going to the game, we'll say a chance for rain showers. i don't think it's going to be raining the whole game but certainly some rain is possible at one point or another so plan on that. the temperature about 72 degrees downtown at 1:00. overnight tonight, mostly clo

in to northern frederick county, virginia. this is where we are desperate for rain. looks like we will have not much in the way of rain chances until late thursday, friday. we need good soaking rain to catch up. temperatures in the 50s this morning. winchester is 65. it is 66 here in washington. it is mid-60s in southern maryland. fredericksburg 63. locally a couple of spots in the 50s right now. crofton and columbia at a 9. reston is 57 manassas 61. the nice thing opposed to yesterday, today no fog to talk about. it is 86. the winds are light from the south southwest and the humidity is up 78% but not enough for fog to form. rain in the mid 'ole the country. big time showers and storms. we will watch as low pressure heads our way as we head to thursday night and friday. for us it will pass to the north. what that means is the bulk of the rain will pass to the north. in the short term, cold front up in pennsylvania. that's going to come through. we will watch that during the day. maybe a few clouds with it and a brisk wind out
